STREAM Activity: Foil Moon Craft

Celebrate the anniversary of the moon landing with a moon craft!
Activity best for children ages three and up

The anniversary of the first manned moon landing, by Apolo 11, is celebrated on July 20th. This historic event took place in 1969 when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon. In today’s activity, we will be making our own moon art craft using materials found at home.

MATERIALS

  • Black and white construction paper

  • Markers

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Black and white acrylic paint

  • Foil

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Gather all of the materials for your foil moon craft.

STEP 2

Start by drawing a circle on a white piece of paper.

Cut out your circle and glue it onto the black construction paper.

STEP 4

Add white and black paint to a bowl and mix the colors together.

STEP 5

Next crush a sheet of foil together. This will be used as your paintbrush! Dip the foil in the mixed paint and start coloring your moon shape.

Let your moon craft dry and then you’re ready to display your out of this world craft!
