Pumpkins are a versatile and fascinating fruit. Did you know that fruits are the parts of a plant that you eat that come from flowers? Vegetables are the part of a plant that you eat that comes from a root, stem, or leaf. Pumpkins are native to North America, with over 45 different types of pumpkins. Pumpkins come in different sizes and colors such as orange, white, and even blue! Many people eat pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie, but did you know that the flower that blooms on a pumpkin can be eaten? Today, we’ll get to make our very own crafty pumpkin to honor this famous fall fruit!

MATERIALS

  • Orange beads

  • 5 orange pipe cleaners

  • 1 green pipe cleaner

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Start by twisting your orange pipe cleaners at the ends and lay them out in a star shape.

STEP 2

Add orange beads to every strand of pipe cleaner. The more beads you add the bigger your pumpkin will be!

Once you’re done, collect all the strands and twist them at the top for the stem.

Then cut and wrap the green pipe cleaner around the gathered orange pipe cleaners.
