STREAM Activity: Friendship Bracelet

As back to school season approaches, it is the perfect time to celebrate new and old friendships with a colorful friendship bracelet. These bracelets are not only a fun, creative way to express your style, but they also symbolize friendship.

GUIDING QUESTIONS

  • How can making and sharing bracelets help us build and celebrate friendships as we start the new school year?

MATERIALS

  • Pipe cleaners

  • Pencil

  • Beads

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Grab a pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pencil to form a bead. You can create as many as you need to fill in your bracelet.

STEP 2

Grab a pipe cleaner and measure around your wrist to make the bracelet “string”.

STEP 3

Add your pipe cleaner beads to the pipe cleaner string to form your friendship bracelet. Optional you can add beads in between the pipe cleaners for a fun pattern.

STEP 4

Close off your bracelet by twisting the two ends of the pipe cleaner together.

STEP 5

Cut off the excess pipe cleaner ends and tuck the remaining pieces inside the beads.

Create a matching bracelet for your friend and now you are ready to show off your new accessory!
