We believe all kiddos should experience a welcoming and inclusive environment that allows them the freedom to explore and experiment regardless of ability. We are proud to offer accommodations for children with disabilities or sensory needs at no additional cost. The following resources are available to help you plan your visit to the Museum.

SENSORY BAGS

Available for check out at the Front Desk. All bags include:

  • Alerting tools (i.e. light stick)

  • Calming tools (i.e. noise canceling headphones, sunglasses)

  • Organizing tools (i.e. whiteboard with a dry erase marker, visual cards, emotion cards)

  • Grounding tools (i.e. squish ball)

DESIGNATED QUIET SPACES

The Museum offers designated quiet spaces located in the Quiet Room and outdoor Welcome Garden.

SOCIAL STORY

ACCESSIBILITY

  • We welcome services animals that are required because of a disability and have been trained to support specific tasks

  • A toddler changing table with pull out stairs located in family restroom can accommodate children up to 100lbs

  • All professional aides accompanying children with special needs to the Museum receive free admission

SUNDAYS 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Sensory Friendly Mornings are an early morning geared toward families with children on the spectrum or with sensory sensitivities. This event is a welcoming, comfortable environment for your child and family to enjoy the Museum in a quiet and accepting setting. Please contact any of our staff members during your visit for questions or additional assistance.
