Light up the night with a special firework craft!

The 4th of July is an important day for many Americans, celebrated all across the US. On July 4th, the United States gained its independence from Britain. Many Americans mark this day with delicious food, spending time with their family, and fireworks. Today, we will have our own celebration by making a firework art project to give to a friend or family member.

VOCABULARY

  • Independence: freedom from outside control.
  • Firework: a device that makes a display of light or noise by the burning of explosive or flammable materials.
  • Flammable: easily to set on fire.

MATERIALS

  • Tape
  • Acrylic paint (red, blue, and white)
  • Paper plate
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Papers

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Start by gathering the materials for your firework art.

STEP 2

Next, cut a piece of construction paper in half. Then cut thin lines along the edge of your paper, less than an inch of the way in.

STEP 3

Now, take both edges of your paper and fold them inward to create a cylinder. Use your tape to stick the sides together.

STEP 4

Time to make our fireworks stamp! Take each cut piece of paper and fold it outward to make it look like a flower or firework.

STEP 5

With a paintbrush, you will paint the pieces with red, white, or blue paint.

STEP 6

Once you’ve added the color you will start stamping your paper to make fireworks. Get creative! You can make different-sized fireworks or layer different colors on top of each other.

Take your finished fireworks display and give it to your grownup to celebrate the special day.
