Visitor Services Associate
Part Time (multiple positions available)
Compensation: $11-$13 DOE
Position
A Visitor Services Associate is responsible for delivering a safe, clean, fun and educational Museum experience to all visitors and guests. This position is responsible for welcoming and orienting visitors and guests, leading daily programs, and processing all admissions, membership, and store sales. Additionally, this position must ensure that all public areas are clean, disinfected, and presentable to guests at all time. This position reports directly to the Visitor Experience Supervisor and additionally to the Director of Museum Experience.
Accountabilities

- Communicate clearly with peers, supervisors, museum staff and visitors

Responsibilities
- Customer Service Delivery
- Provide excellent customer service to all museum staff, volunteers, interns, visitors, partners and affiliates; build relationships, promote repeat visitation
- Ensure guests are enjoying the museum safely by enforcing museum rules, proactively anticipate and remedy potential problems
- Participate in daily debriefings to discuss events, news, and focus areas
- Provide accurate information in a timely manner about exhibits, programs, and events to all visitors; respond to visitor and guest inquiries and requests
- Address escalated guest issues or concerns, involve Supervisor and Director in unfamiliar or questionable events
- Create and facilitate memorable birthday party experiences
- Sales
- Operate Atru Point Of Sale to process sales transactions, such as admission tickets, gift certificates, and store products
- Promote and sell programs and events : memberships, birthdays, museum rentals, discovery camps, workshops, mobile museum, special events, and more
- Ensure museum store is fully stocked, items faced
- Handle cash and other forms of payment in a secure, orderly, and efficient manner
- Maintain cash drawer accuracy to a high level, including getting change and making deposits; balance drawer within acceptable variance level
- Facility Cleaning and Maintenance / Operations
- Participate in opening/closing of the Museum
- Monitor all areas for physical appearance and functionality; Ensure museum is Reset hourly
- Monitor cleaning schedule and maintain high standards for orderliness, cleanliness and sanitation, including: daily cleaning, deep cleaning, laundry and minor exhibits detail
- Assist in daily maintenance of work environment to ensure all work areas are neat, stocked and orderly at all times
- Coordinate with Facilities/Exhibits staff to maintain exhibit and facility standards
- General Administrative
- Answer telephone, listen to voice mails
- Monitor FrontDesk@ email, participate in end-of-day summary and feedback email
- Monitor mail and assisting with correspondence and mailings
- Communicate ordering needs
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all database and computer systems as they relate to museum customer service and programs: Altru, MailChimp, Quickbooks
Qualifications
- Coursework in museum studies, child development, psychology, art or related field desired
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, customer service, creative thinking and problem solving
- Must have a desire to work with children; must be enthusiastic, energetic, and friendly
- Excellent communication, computer, sales, cash handling, and time management skills required
- Must have excellent attention to detail and be open to feedback, able to function in a high energy team environment
