The San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is proud to announce the return of KPBS Kids Workshops for 2015! Join Wild Kratts, Lorax, Clifford, and other special guests as we explore the world around us through science, math and literacy.
The KPBS Kids Workshop series will consist of hands-on workshops, interactive presentations, and special events that connect to a KPBS Kids program and theme. Workshops and presentations take place on the Second Saturday of selected and will last approximately 30-45 minutes. Workshop times are 10:15 and 11:15 and presentations are at 10 and 11.
These programs are designed for children ages 3 and up. Price of KPBS Kids Workshops are included in Museum admission. For Museum admission pricing please visit our Admission & Pricing page.
Registration is encouraged so that we can better prepare for the correct amount of attendees. Registration is required for the special event days. 2015 KPBS Kids Workshop Schedule
January 10, 2015 – Wild Kratts (Presentation)
Learn about the watershed and how to keep this habitat clean and safe for the many animals that live there. Meet a few water-loving animals, too. Interactive presentation times: 10am and 11am.
February 28, 2015 – World Thinking Day (Special Event)
Join KPBS, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, and the Girl Scouts of San Diego for an exciting event exploring world cultures. Free admission with registration for kids under 18 and regular admission price for adults. Event times are 10am and 11:30am. Register at kpbs.org/worldthinkingday.
March 2, 2015 – Read Across America Day (Special Event)
Join us for “Read Across America Day,” in conjunction with Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Monday, March 2nd. This special workshop will include a story time by Marilyn McPhie and a visit by a Dr. Seuss Character who will giveaway Dr. Seuss books. The event runs from 10am-12noon.
April 11, 2015 – Lorax (Presentation)
Explore one of the most important and limited resources on Earth – water. Catch a special water conservation puppet show and workshop. Learn about our Be Water Wise: Conservation Challenge and participate by making earth-friendly changes at your home. Special visit by a costume character. Presentation times: 10am and 11am.
May 9, 2015 – Clifford the Big Red Dog (Workshop)
Clifford teaches social, emotional, and moral messages to children like being kind, respectful, and having a positive attitude. In this hands-on workshop, celebrate Mom and family by making a special Mother’s Day gift. Special visit by a costume character. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
June 13, 2015 – Dinosaur Train (Workshop)
Can you dig it? Meet a real paleontologist who will share his dinosaur discovering skills and knowledge. Explore paleontology and go on a fossil dig in this hands-on workshop. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
September 12, 2015 – Martha Speaks (Presentation)
Poetry is music to our ears! Take a try at writing your own poem which we will turn into a group musical performance. Play with language and musical instruments and take home your own sheet music. Workshop times: 10am and 11am.
October 10, 2015 – Cat in the Hat (Workshop)
Bugs and insects are good friends to have to keep your garden healthy and beautiful. In this hands-on workshop, explore these beneficial creatures and make your own insect house. Special visit by a costume character. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
November 14, 2015 – Curious George (Workshop)
Explore colors and shapes through the end of a kaleidoscope. Make your own kaleidoscope in this hands-on workshop. Special visit by a costume character. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
