San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is proud to announce the return of KPBS Kids Workshops for 2016! Join Wild Kratts, Lorax, Clifford, and other special guests as we explore the world around us through science, math, and literacy.
The KPBS Kids Workshop series will consist of hands-on workshops, interactive presentations, and special events that connect to a KPBS Kids program educational theme. Workshops and presentations take place on the Second Saturday of selected and will last approximately 30-45 minutes. Workshop times are 10:00 and 11:00.
These programs are designed for children ages 3 and up. Price of KPBS Kids Workshops are included in Museum admission. For Museum admission pricing, please visit our Admission & Pricing page.
Workshop seating is first come, first served. As workshops tend to fill up quickly, please arrive early to secure your spot. Costume characters are selected for specific workshops given availability.
May 14, 2016 -- Sid the Science Kid (Workshop)
Can you feel the rhythm? Learn about the science of sound and be a part of our museum band. Special visit by a costume character. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
June 11, 2016 – Curious George (workshop)
Curious George has lots of friends. Our friends can also be our family. In this hands-on workshop, celebrate Dad and family by making a special Father’s Day project. Special visit by a costume character. Workshop times: 10:00am and 11:00am.
September 10, 2016 -- Wild Kratts (workshop)
Did you know there are wild animals right in your own backyard? Get to know your flying, crawling, or hopping neighbors and how to protect their home too. Get to meet an animal ambassador and make your own animal habitat. Special storytime at 9:45am and 10:45am. Animal presentation by Zovargo: 10:00am and 11:00am. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am. Please note that there will not be a costume character for this workshop.
October 8, 2016 -- Curious George (workshop)
Where does food come from? George is very curious to know. In this hands-on workshop, learn about the life cycle of pumpkins and plant a pumpkin seed to take home. Special storytime at 9:45am and 10:45am. Special visit by a costume character at 10:00am and 11:00am. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
November 12, 2016 -- Dinosaur Train (workshop)
Volcanoes have been active since before the time of dinosaurs. See a volcano erupt and make your own volcano art project to take home. Special storytime at 9:45am and 10:45am. Special visit by a costume character at 10:00am and 11:00am. Workshop times: 10:15am and 11:15am.
