Position
The Director of Marketing & Events is responsible for driving brand awareness and earned revenue for the Museum through the creation and management of a comprehensive marketing plan. The Director of Marketing & Events is part of the Museum’s leadership team and reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement strategic marketing plan for overall brand awareness as well as each individual educational program, exhibit, community initiative, and event held the Museum.
- Manage marketing budget, placing media buys and negotiating partnership rates.
- Manage Marketing & Event Team
- Oversee social media content as well as overall social media strategy across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Yelp, Trip Advisor, YouTube, and Google+).
- Develop content and write copy for all marketing materials.
- Lead partnership marketing using creative strategies to leverage partner relationships to reach new audiences and further brand awareness.
- Maintain website as the content creator and development lead.
- Manage Graphic Designer, overseeing brand consistency and production timeline.
- Oversee PR consultant, determining PR strategy and writing press releases.
- Part of Development Team with responsibility of creating marketing assets to speak to our donors, volunteers, and supporters.
- Plan, market, and lead the project management of fundraising events.
- Oversee private event facility rentals; establishing the rental process and lead the marketing efforts to secure future clients.
- Provide monthly reports and analysis of marketing efforts.
Qualifications
- BA (required) in Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, or related area preferred.
- 7+ years experience in marketing.
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator).
- Demonstrated knowledge of website and social media platforms.
- Effective leadership and team building skills required.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and others in a culturally diverse environment.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail, self-starter, and takes initiative.
