San Diego Children's Discovery Museum offers educational programs daily. Check the website calendar for any updates to our Daily Program schedule.
Stop by the Indoor Classroom to participate in an art activity starting at 9:30am. Activities change each week and are themed to align with either our Roots Series celebrating cultures and communities or our Outdoor Explorer Series. The daily activity is self-serve and self-guided. Instructions and materials are provided. The activity takes place in the Indoor Classroom and is subject to closures for private events.
Join us for storytime daily at 11:00am and 2:00pm.
SDCDM educators will read the featured book to the group in the comfortable Book Nook. Books change each week and are themed to align with either our Roots Series celebrating cultures and communities or our Outdoor Explorer Series.
Storytime is free with Museum admission. Enjoy the Musuem and then listen for the bell that signifies that Storytime is about to start.

Outdoor Art Studio Workshop
Stop by the Outdoor Art Studio to let your kiddos creative juices flow with different hands-on workshops starting at 10:00am and 3:00pm. Kids will get to create art projects and learn art techniques from our SDCDM educators.
Workshops are 30 minutes and open to all ages. Art workshop themes change monthly.
Stop by our Vegetable Garden behind the pergola in the Children’s Discovery Garden at 10:30am and 3:30pm for some garden exploration time with our staff! Lessons are 30 minutes and open to all ages.
Lessons will include hands-on activities such as:
- Watering plants
- Looking inside the compost bins and worm compost
- Getting your hands dirty and digging in the dirt
- Taste testing (if ripe)
- Smelling, tasting, and touching the plants
- Playing with fake bugs
- Going on a butterfly search
- Looking for bugs or signs of life
- Check our daily schedule posted outside the Vegetable Garden to participate and learn more about scheduled special programs.
Chicken Meet & Greet
Come meet our Museum chickens: Henrietta, Babs, and Peck in our new Chicken Coop generously donated by Escondido Feed & Supply!
Pet, feed, and learn about how to take care of chickens.

Join us from 12:15pm – 1:15pm daily in our Outdoor Art Studio to participate in our new STREAM Stations! During this time, children along with their caregivers will get an introduction to STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) education through hands-on stations focusing on each subject area. Movement from one STREAM Station to the next is free flow and designed for all ages. The monthly theme for the STREAM Stations relates to one of our exhibits. After participating in the STREAM Stations, children will be able to extend their hands-on learning in our year-round exhibits in the Museum.
