What a blast we had at San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum’s (SDCDM) first Family Space STREAM Night on Tuesday, November 28, 2017! In conjunction with our Outdoor Explorer series, a program designed to give children a broader understanding of our natural world and a deeper connection with nature, the Museum hosted a special Family STREAM Night around the month’s “Space” theme. Families were able to explore various Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math (STREAM) activities throughout the Museum.
Special guests included NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassadors who were also representatives of Orange County Astronomers and Temecula Valley Astronomers. They provided telescopes to view the night sky and led a special Space talk with our families. Tsunami Intelligent AR/VR gave children a taste of the latest virtual reality technology, allowing visitors to dive into a whole new world. The Escondido Public Library offered a special storytime and promoted the importance of literacy.
STEM skills are essential to exercise for early learners to help them succeed in all other areas of their learning. Careers using these skills are also in high demand. Fostering your child’s natural curiosity and problem-solving skills is ever critical to prepare them for success. Visit SDCDM’s STREAM Stations daily from 12:15pm to 1:15pm in the Outdoor Art Studio to practice these skills. We invite you to further extend their learning by visiting our year-round exhibits that correspond to our monthly-themed STREAM-based activities. Be sure to review our other blogs about STEM learning to learn more.
