Last Friday of Every Month
11:00am - 12:00pm
Farm Animal Fridays is an educational program that takes place on the last Friday of every month. Each program includes an opportunity to meet farm animals, hear a special storytime, and participate in a themed craft or activity. Each Farm Animal Friday features a different theme and animal.
Farm Animal Fridays is part of the Museum’s mission to provide hands-on educational experiences for children to learn about our world. The opportunity to meet farm animals inspires curiosity and learning about animal science, along with a guided educational workshop to add context and new information for discovery.

Farm Animal Friday FAQ's
What is Farm Animal Friday?
Farm Animal Friday is a unique opportunity for the SDCDM community to learn and interact with different farm animals. Throughout the program, we will have storytime, an educational presentation, hands-on activity, and exploration of the animal(s).
When can I participate in Farm Animal Friday?
Farm Animal Friday occurs on the last Friday of each month from 10:30am-11:30am. Animal themes are posted on the SDCDM Website.
How much is this program?
This program is free with purchase of admission or membership into the Museum.
Where are these animals coming from?
SDCDM has partnered with reputable, small farms in local San Diego County.
What safety precautions is SDCDM taking in order to have a successful program?
Guest and animal safety is our number one priority. On the day of the event, Museum staff will communicate any special rules or directions to allow everyone to learn in a safe environment. All guests that choose to participate in petting the animals will be asked to use hand sanitizer before and after having contact with the animal. As a precaution, we also encourage hand washing in our restrooms after coming in contact with the animals. Only healthy animals will be allowed on Museum grounds for the safety of guests, staff, and our own animal residences. Depending on the animal, there will be times where guests will be able to hold or participate in other animal handling practices at the discretion of the lead Farm Animal Friday staff and owner of the animals. Lastly, the animals are constantly monitored for stress. In the event of stress, guests will be asked to only look at the animals or the animal will be removed from the crowd in order for them to feel comfortable again. For any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact SDCDM.
